The Good Fight comes to Brookline next month, and the deadline to enter the Brazilian jiu jitsu tournament with minimal fees is this Friday.

Competitors who register by the end of Friday will pay $69 to enter one competition, or $89 to enter two competitions. Those fees notch up to $75/$95 if you register between April 29 and May 3, and $80/$100 if you register on May 4 or 5.

Good Fight’s most recent competition, the Tournament of Brotherly Love held outside Philadelphia, brought hundreds of competitors representing nearly 70 jiu jitsu schools.

While the 2011 Haymakers for Hope charity boxing event was nothing to sneeze at—filling up the spacious facility at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel—this year’s looks like it will be bigger and better.

In addition to upgrading from the Park Plaza to the House of Blues, this year’s Haymakers program will feature a much higher production value, according to the Haymakers team.

Having a new venue has really increased our production capabilities. The House of Blues has T.V. monitors all around the venue, and there will be a live feed from inside the ring. So even when someone is at the bar grabbing a drink they can see what is going on in the ring and not miss any of the action. We will also have a large projection screen behind the ring to create a jumbo-tron like experience. The production team from the TD Garden will be on hand at the event, which will enable us to show instant replays in between rounds, and add to the overall experience tremendously.

The team said the group has also been working with a consulting company called Ad Hoc Indudstries and an event planning company called Amy Kimball Events. Together, the firms are assembling pre-production packages to air before each fight.

Tickets cost $75 or $150 and can be purchased at livenation.com. Proceeds benefit The Jimmy Fund.

With Haymakers for Hope less than a month away, we thought it would be a good time to check in with the event.

Asof Thursday morning, the Boston-based amateur boxing charity event had raised $258,316, according to its web site.

That tops its total of $140,000 raised for cancer from last year—much of which was raised by participants from Peter Welch’s Gym.

This year’s card includes 26 amateur fighters representing nine clubs. Again, Peter Welch’s Gym dominates the field. Here’s the breakdown by club:

We wish we had spotted this video earlier. This was one of the shortest fights from AFO’s Night of Champions—and also one of the most surprising. Soap Am’s last fight went nearly a full three rounds before Am snapped on a reverse armbar for the win. Put that together with Tapology’s 92/8 consensus that Cory Pickering would best Am, and it was something of a shock when Am KOed Pickering just seconds into the first round. It turns out that he punches hard for a 145 lb guy.

Chris Stilwell has more action from Friday’s Night of Champions. This time, the fight that opened the night: 135 lb Randy Cole (0-0) from Sityodtong vs. Lorenzo De Los Reyes (0-0) from Dexter.  I don’t think I’m saying anything too risky to when I say you’ll probably see Cole again.

John “Doomsday” Howard declared he is “back, baby,” after winning over Todd “The Hulk” Chattelle at Saturday’s CES event in Rhode Island. Here’s what that match looked like.

Chris Stillwell continues to churn them out. Here’s what he grabbed of the 135 lb title fight between Billy Giovanella 4-2 (Connor’s) and Devin Pilkington 4-2(Rukus).

Lowell boxer and friend of the Dropkick Murphys Danny O’Connor sat down with “Ringside Report” recently to talk about training in Texas and his upcoming main event at the House of Blues in Boston.

During the lengthy interview, he said that his ideal boxing fight would be one in which he listened to everything that his coach told him. He also explained that he and Dropkick clicked because of their mutual blue-collar, hard-working identities and talked about whether or not he would participate on a reality show.

(Laughter) I guess I would be willing to do anything if it helped out the O’Connor brand. But again, I guess you need some sort of craziness to have a reality show like these Jersey Shore kids.

I am a pretty simple guy. I train all day and anytime I am not training I am spending it with my family. Those are the two things that make me happy in this life and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

See the full interview here.

Chris Stilwell was on hand at Friday’s Night of Champions and captured video of most of the fights. On Sunday, he posted video of the 185 title fight between Tom Venticinque 4-2 (Team United) vs Joe Palazio 4-1 (Rukus).

On Monday, he posted a highlight reel of the entire night—including some photos you might recognize. We’ve embedded both for you below. We’re sure there’s more to come.

Our attempts to keep live updates from American Fighting Organization’s Night of Champions fell off as our efforts to constantly dump photos onto the site ramped up. Fortunately, the guys over at WesternMassMMA.com kept up the pace and reported live results for anyone following.

There’s not a lot of point in rehashing their coverage. Instead, let’s take a look at how Tapology’s consensus did on predicting the outcomes.

Last minute changes to the card left several bouts without predictions, but Tapology’s prognosticators still had a consensus on seven fights. The consensus correctly predicted the method of victory in five bouts and correctly named the winner in six.

The site struggled with predicting AFO’s last Night of Champions, but scored well on raw outcomes this time around. However, the one time the consensus failed on Friday’s card, it was very wrong. Tapology predicted 92/8 that Cory Pickering would defeat Soap Am. Am knocked out Pickering seconds into the first round.

Full breakdown (and results) follow.
