While the 2011 Haymakers for Hope charity boxing event was nothing to sneeze at—filling up the spacious facility at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel—this year’s looks like it will be bigger and better.
In addition to upgrading from the Park Plaza to the House of Blues, this year’s Haymakers program will feature a much higher production value, according to the Haymakers team.
Having a new venue has really increased our production capabilities. The House of Blues has T.V. monitors all around the venue, and there will be a live feed from inside the ring. So even when someone is at the bar grabbing a drink they can see what is going on in the ring and not miss any of the action. We will also have a large projection screen behind the ring to create a jumbo-tron like experience. The production team from the TD Garden will be on hand at the event, which will enable us to show instant replays in between rounds, and add to the overall experience tremendously.
The team said the group has also been working with a consulting company called Ad Hoc Indudstries and an event planning company called Amy Kimball Events. Together, the firms are assembling pre-production packages to air before each fight.
Tickets cost $75 or $150 and can be purchased at livenation.com. Proceeds benefit The Jimmy Fund.
